Getting Here

Click for a more detailed map of where Cooking in France is located The Aravis Lodge and Cooking in France cookery courses are based in the village of St Jean de Sixt in the heart of the Aravis range of mountains. The village lies two kilometres or so between the larger villages and winter ski resorts of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand.

We are also a 30 minute drive from the mainline railway station of Annecy and an eight hour drive from Calais. The journey is an important part of your overall holiday experience so with Cooking in France we suggest you fly to Geneva to give you:

Our cookery course packages have been designed to help you find good value and convenient flights which can be from as little as £45 return although we recommend booking as early as possible to find the best value flights.

Geneva is well served by flights from the UK. EasyJet is the largest carrier during the summer with flights from London Gatwick, Stanstead and Luton as well as Bristol, Nottingham East Midlands and Liverpool. Besides this, British Airways operate flights from London Heathrow and Aer Lingus have one flight a day from Dublin.

When do the free airport transfers operate?

Arrivals

Flight times landing between 1600 - 2130

We will always try to be waiting for you on arrival in Geneva and minimise your time spent in the airport, however due to our offering trips to small groups from a wide range of airports there may be a brief wait at Geneva for us to meet another flight joining your transfer.

Flights landing before 1800 mean that you'll be at the Lodge in time for a full dinner and a leisurely evening settling in. For later arrivals there'll be supper and wine waiting for you, should you want it, before you go to bed.

Departures

Flight times leaving from 1600 - 2200

We will leave the lodge around 3 hours before your departing flight, which means that you'll have a morning or full day of walking to enjoy before you go. We don't normally enforce check out times, so you'll be able to keep your things in your room so you can shower and change before leaving.

Flights at other times

Due to the poor air links between Geneva and the North of England / Scotland in the summer we will also always pick up and drop down to easyJet's Liverpool flight for free. This arrives at 1435 on Thursdays and leaves at 1025 on Mondays.

If you would like to catch a flight that arrives at a different time than afternoon or evening we are able to come and meet you direct from that flight but there will be a charge of £90 per transfer, payable in advance, for a transfer of up to 8 people (this is per transfer leg not per person, so is divisible between the number in your party).
